Day Trip to Toronto Island.

Now that the weather is getting so much nicer, we are looking forward to seeing more that this great city of Toronto has to offer.  Winter, you were a hard one!  And so on Victoria Day Monday, our family, including my parents, took a little trip over to Toronto Island for the day.  It was the most perfect day to do it really. (In fact, I have to recommend going in the spring rather than summer.  At 10 am in the morning, the lines weren't that long and we caught the ferry immediately for a short ride.  There were still a lot of people, but it wasn't crowded by any means.  And while it was sunny, it wasn't too hot either).

We wandered around and rented bike chariots to tour the island, ate lunch and looked at the fair grounds (but didn't try any rides out--maybe next year).  And then in an almost magical moment Jordan and I scored awesome parenting awards when both Magdalene and Gabriel fell asleep in the stroller at the same time for an hour.  (We are sorta stoked that our kids love napping on the go.  It makes it so much fun to get out and explore!)  We just walked around investigating the little community on the east end of the Island.  It is sort of an alternative/waldorfy kind of place where you can tell some artists live and people ride their bikes everywhere.  There are no cars.  What a place to live!  Only minutes from downtown and yet totally "isolated island living" (except for tourists, I suppose).

Gabriel was pretty excited to find an "A" in the menu.  This little guy is loving learning to "read."

Oh, poor Magdalene was having a rough day no matter what.  It isn't always smiles and giggles all day in this house.  Popping those little teeth is a tough job, isn't it?

A family photo....Yup, this is real life....

We totally walked our feet off and I don't think it mattered what shoes we wore (although, I decided to wear platforms--headslap!), our feet were sore at the end of the day and our arms were tired from holding our little ones but so nice to take my parents out to see the island.  And we can't wait to go back and take the kids on rides as they get older.
