Cottage Life Part 1 :)

Just got back from spending a whole week together in cottage country.  And let me tell you, there is something completely serene about being a little disconnected from the outside world and reuniting our family for good in this move to Ontario!!  After all the chaos our lives have been in over the last couple of weeks (or months), being a little bit isolated but surrounded by a great big family and totally cared for is a wonderful thing.  Moving across the country and selling a house is stressful.  No doubt about it!

We finally arrived after sixteen hours of travel at a family cottage and took a deep breath of fresh air--the kind that is totally unpolluted by traffic, smog and the havoc of life.  Over the years, we have loved coming here to the "family compound" where our Aunt's cottage is and ALL the cousins are just next door. And so we were delighted to see that Gabriel enjoyed it there just as much as we do.

We spent our days sleeping in (Yes, you bet!  That's one advantage to not adjusting to the time change right away), sipping coffee, meandering through big breakfasts and dinners, throwing rocks for the dog, swimming, canoeing and spending time with the cousins.  Pretty great!  Gabriel threw rocks for Abe for about four hours a day and even the dog was outdone!  He didn't need a walk all week and in fact, had to stop after a couple of hours to take a nap.  Too. Much. Rock. Throwing.

Gabriel took advantage of having more laps to sit on and warmed up to Aunt Minnie in no time--wanting her to read books to him.  Fizey (and Gabriel) livened up the evenings with the guitar, which to Gabriel's excitement, he was permitted to wear around his neck and strum.  You can guess what he might be getting for Christmas this year...

Hazy mornings before the fog had lifted--so incredibly peaceful.

Gabriel's word of the week, "Boat."  He couldn't wait to get in there and be on the water with his dad and wanted to paddle too, are you surprised?!

And Bob took us for a ride in his motor boat and we were thrilled, even if it did rain.

And Gabriel doled out the hugs happily to the cousins and grandparents, aunts and uncles who were eager to return them.

We are infinitely thankful to ChouChou for taking care of us (feeding us and doing everything in her power to get rid of the bags under our eyes), Fizey for keeping us all laughing and in light spirits with his guitar and good humour and Aunt Minnie for welcoming us to your cottage!!   Cannot wait to go back!
