Oh Vancouver, you are so pretty.

This past Saturday was just one of those days when you have a plan of what you think you are going to do and then it all goes sideways and ends up being the most beautiful day full of things you weren't really intending.  For instance, we planned on visiting our downtown Squamish market and then running errands, but instead Gabriel fell asleep in the car, the market was closed and we ended up driving down into Vancouver instead.

In the search of some great cuts of meat and other delicious things, we popped down to Granville Island to spend the day wandering around.  For those of you who have never been, the Granville Island Market is one of the best markets I have ever witnessed.  For my DC friends, it is sort of like a larger version of the Eastern Market combined with the Torpedo Factory--a more artsy and expansive version of Pike's Place Market in Seattle.  It's a whole island devoted to beautiful things--pottery, fabric arts, leather, produce, meat, poultry, crafts, restaurants and take-away.  When Jordan and I used to live in South Granville, the market was somewhere we went every weekend, if not to stock up on deliciousness, to browse through the latest collections of art and maybe even pick up a gift or two come Christmas.

Watch out!  These seagulls are the size of a dog and vicious!

We had a lovely day there, looking at all the new exhibits and visiting some of our favorite little shops.  Then we headed home, detouring through Stanley park, along the seawall where we used to bike and roller-blade before crossing the Lion's Gate Bridge.

Oh Vancouver, you are so pretty!
